
The Great Mountain Bike experience!
This trip offers the ability to combine mountain biking with some historic sight seeing. Here you will get the opportunity to visit the largest fortress in Europe, the Italian "Maginot line", The unfortunate fort Mutin, the battle field of Assietta (1734) and travel along the highest military road in Europe.
Descend in altitude and time to visit the Roman Town of Susa (Segusium)to visit the amphitheatre and Augustinian Arch after a continuous descent of over 1500m vertical!
Based at our alpne casa on the road used by Julius Ceasar and Napoleon your chalet style accomodation comes complete with evening meals, good Italian wine and scenic views.

Itinerary
Day 1 Arrival, collection from airport assemble bikes. (Depending on arrival time possible leg stretcher ride)
Day 2 Orientation/ acclimatisation ride around the area of Fenestrelle Via the fortress of Fenestrelle, Fort Serre Maria and Fort Mutin ,Pian delle alpe and Colle delle Finestre (30-40km 80% off road climbing to 1900m)
Day 3 Downhill (mostly) day from Sestriere 2035m , Val Troncea, following the Chisone river to Chambons passing through ancient villages, Olympic ski jump, national park, and following the ancient Roman route used by Julius Ceaser. (40km 90% off road mixed track and single track)
Day 4 Short ride and guided walk around the fortress (option for 3 or 6 hour visit) This is a privileged tour of the fort allowing access to parts not often visited by the public. (variable depending on option, rest day activity)
Day 5 The Assietta ridge. 52km of military road that passes along the top of the mountain crest. A tough day with plenty of climbing and some great descents. This is technically the highest military road in Europe with most of it staying over 2000m.
Day 6 Climb to Colle delle Finestre and 1300m (vertical difference) descent to Susa and visit to Roman Amphitheatre, Augustinian Arch and Medieval churches. (30-40km)
Day 7 Mixed day of off road and road to Pinerolo following the Via Napoleonica or Giro Monte Chiantaplagna (Subject to springtime inspection of route)
Day 8 Return to airport and goodbyes.
The scenery, guiding and hospitality are second to none. Local knowledge and knowledge of the locals has made this trip truly memorable.

This trip includes half board accomodation (one evening out at own expense) wine with evening meal, Menu specially designed for cyclistsand made mainly with local and organic produce. Transfers to and from Turin Caselle Airport/Turin rail terminals, Vehicle support where required (always on call), guided rides, secure bike store, workshop for minor repairs, bike shop on call.
WHATS NOT
You are responsible for arranging your flights and adequate travel insurance. We do not cover your sundry expenses, refreshments, repairs whilst out on the rides nor your lunch. It is obligatory on our rides that you wear a helmet, carry sufficient water and are in suitable physical condition for the level of rides you undertake.
